Working with Deaf youth

The training was dedicated for professionally active advisors who would like to learn about methods and tools, as well as the specifics of working with deaf people.

Online training was carried out on 15-19.03.2021 from 12.00-16.00 (every day) through MS Teams platform.

​

During the training we:

• introduced the subject of the specific functioning of deaf people in various areas - in private life, in the environment of hearing people, at school, in professional life.

• dealt with the most frequently repeated myths and stereotypes about the Deaf

• talked about the main barriers faced by Deaf people during education and professional life

• presented the main tools and methods of communication with Deaf people (other than sign language)

• suggested what kind of help Deaf people want to enter the labor market

• considered how deaf youth can be supported during their education and job search

• discussed about any other issue concerning workin with Deaf youth

The condition of participation was registration and activation of the account on the MS Teams platform.

​

Training was held in English and was completely free of charge!

​

The training was conducted by trainers with knowledge and practical experience in working with Deaf people.

 

The training was attended by about 60 people from many European countries. This gave an unique opportunity to exchange experiences, views, share knowledge and establish cooperation. As a part of the training we also had the opportunity to see the interviews with Deaf people working with hearing people.
